Situated in Nørrebro, the first voluntary- built hostel in Copenhagen, "Globalhagen Hostel" aimed to show visitors a different side of the city and its people through its visions, missions and engagements in non-profit sectors, specifically fighting against global poverty issues. From the outside, the hostel blends in well with any other building in the city, but on the inside, the colorful interior design tells some different stories. The 20 colorful rooms bear the names of the many countries where the non-profit group Mellemfolkeligt Samvirkes works to combat inequality and poverty. The thematic reference of global activism is surely reflected by the clever and unique design. The rooms are also built with all recycled and green materials. The available space is optimally designed and utilized in a economic manner, too.
